Path of Exile 2: How to Get All 8 Ascendancy Points

In Path of Exile 2, Ascendancy Classes are critical to shaping your character's identity, power, and build strategy. With unique passive trees and powerful bonuses, Ascendancies can define the entire direction of a build, whether you're maximizing damage, defense, or utility.

To fully unlock an Ascendancy, you'll need to earn 8 Ascendancy Points, but the process isn't entirely straightforward, especially the second half. This guide walks you through exactly how to get all 8 Ascendancy Points.

How to Get Ascendancy Points in Path of Exile 2

Ascendancy Points are awarded by completing two types of trials:

·Trial of the Sekhemas

·Trial of Chaos

You'll complete one of each trial during the campaign, then repeat higher-difficulty versions for the remaining points.

First 4 Ascendancy Points (Campaign)

These are obtained as part of the main campaign progression in Acts 2 and 3.

Trial of the Sekhemas (First 2 Points)

·Unlocked After: Defeating Balbala, the Traitor in Traitor's Passage

·Reward Item: Djinn Barya

·Trial Type: Sanctum-style gauntlet where maintaining Honor is key

·Tip: Avoid damage at all costs- you die when Honor reaches 0, even with full life

Trial of Chaos (Next 2 Points)

·Unlocked After: Defeating Xyclucian, the Chimera in Chimeral Wetlands

·Reward Item: Inscribed Ultimatum

·Trial Type: Roguelike rooms with stacking affliction modifiers

·Tip: Plan your path and prepare for stacking difficulties; bad RNG can create punishing rooms

Final 4 Ascendancy Points (Endgame Trials)

Once you've finished the campaign trials, you can earn the remaining four points by completing high-level versions of the same trials using advanced versions of Djinn Barya or Inscribed Ultimatum.

Fifth & Sixth Points (Mid-Endgame)

·Option 1: Complete Trial of the Sekhemas using a Level 60+ Djinn Barya

·Option 2: Complete Trial of Chaos using a Level 75+ Inscribed Ultimatum

Seventh & Eighth Points (Endgame)

·Option 1: Complete Trial of the Sekhemas with a Level 75+ Djinn Barya

·Option 2: Defeat the Trialmaster in the Trial of Chaos using a Level 75+ Inscribed Ultimatum

Note: Your Djinn Barya or Inscribed Ultimatum will explicitly say if an Ascendancy Point or Path of Exile 2 Currency is available as a reward before you enter.

Trial Mechanics Explained

Trial of the Sekhemas

·Similar to PoE 1's Sanctum League

·You must maintain your Honor (unique resource)

·Any hit reduces Honor, regardless of damage

·Reaching 0 Honor = instant death

·Strategy: Prioritize to buy POE 2 Currency ranged skills, mobility, and avoidance

Trial of Chaos

·Roguelike dungeon with stacking affliction mods

·Each room introduces new modifiers (randomized)

·Bad affliction combos = brutal difficulty spikes

·Strategy: Building flexibility is key- adapt to mods and plan carefully

Summary: All 8 Ascendancy Points

·1–2: Trial of the Sekhemas (Act 2–3), Djinn Barya (base) Campaign

·3–4: Trial of Chaos (Act 3), Inscribed Ultimatum (base) Campaign

·5–6: High-Level Sekhemas or Chaos, Djinn Barya (Lv 60+) / Ultimatum(Lv 75+) Mid-endgame

·7–8: Very High-Level Sekhemas or Chaos, Djinn Barya (Lv 75+) /Ultimatum (Lv 75+) Trialmaster boss fight

Final Tips

·Save your Level 75+ Djinns/Ultimatums for when you're confident in your build.

·Practice lower trials to get a feel for each system's quirks and hazards.

·You don't have to complete both trial types for all 8 points- mix and match depending on your build and comfort.

With all 8 Ascendancy Points, your character is ready to unleash its full potential- whether you're clearing maps, farming bosses, or pushing the hardest content Path of Exile 2 has to offer.
